In every county, each window's design pressure rating must meet the wind load for its location on the building. Corners and higher floors take more pressure. On buildings, glass within 30 feet of the ground must pass the large-missile impact test. Higher floors can use small-missile-rated products, which matters for high-rise condos.

- Florida insurers must offer wind mitigation credits. Opening protection is one of the largest categories, and it's all or nothing: every window, door, skylight and garage door must be impact-rated or protected to receive the credit.
The inspection form (OIR-B1-1802) was updated effective April 1, 2026, and a completed form is valid for up to five years. After installation, we give you the product approvals, permit and final inspection record your inspector needs. What is a Miami-Dade NOA?
A Notice of Acceptance is Miami-Dade County's product approval for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Products installed in Miami-Dade need one. In Broward, an NOA or an HVHZ-rated Florida Product Approval is required.
